The Album That Launched A Guitar God: Van Halen's Self Titled Album

 



After mind blowing  performances show after show particularly at Starwood and Whisky A Go Go, Warner Brothers took noticed of the band and immediately signed them for a recording contract. Soon after on October 1977 the band began to record their first album under the guidance of producer Ted Templeman. The band don't have enough materials at the time so they decided to record majority of the materials live; one of the major reason this album Van Halen breathes so much energy and live feels.

After three weeks of recording, the album  Van Halen was finally released on 10th of February 1977 reaching number 19 on the Billboard's 200. The album's song You Really Got Me reached number 36 on the chart and stayed there for three weeks. Although the album received negative criticisms from the critics, the album will forever established Eddie Van Halen as the most innovative guitarist of our time due to his mind boggling guitar solos and rhythm works.

Van Halen went Gold on May of 1978 and Platinum on October of the same year. In just only one year after its released, the album have sold 1 million copies in the US. The album Van Halen finally reached Diamond status (10 million copies sold) in the US on August of 1996. It is one of Van Halen's best selling album alongside the 1984 Album. Definitely, No one definitely heard  or seen anything like Van Halen at the time of its release and Eddie Van Halen's jaw dropping works on this album still stand the test of time up to this day.
